Economics Seminars and Public Lectures
A great way to stay up to date on scholarship in the discipline is to attend a free public seminar or lecture:
- The Biennial Endowed Milliman Lecture in Economics: This lecture is made possible by the generous support of Glen S. and Alison W. Milliman, who created an endowed fund in 1995 to bring leading scholars to campus for free public lectures on timely and compelling economics topics.
- The Annual Douglass C. North Nobel Prize in Economics Lecture: Each spring, a UW Economics faculty member delivers a lecture examining the transformative research of the previous year's Nobel Laureate(s) in Economics Sciences.
- Faculty-invited Economics Seminars: Hosted by our faculty, seminars bring academics from all over the world to campus to give talks on topics across the spectrum of economics study.

UW Graduate School Public Lectures
All lectures are free and open to the public. This series is being brought to the UW community, citizens of Seattle, and the State of Washington through three very generous private endowments: The Walker-Ames Fund, The Jessie and John Danz Fund, and the Mary Ann and John D. Coursera at UW
The next wave in online learning is here, and you’re invited to take part. The University of Washington now offers select courses for free through Coursera, which provides access to massive open online courses (MOOCs) taught by top professors from some of the world’s leading universities. These dynamic offerings – including Programming Languages and Introduction to Computer Networks – run on a specific, 10-week schedule and must be signed up for in advance.
