The Department of Economics has lost a beloved member of our community, Teaching Professor Greg Ellis accidently passed on February 22nd.
Greg Ellis spent most of his time in the department as a Principal Teaching Professor, after having being promoted from Senior Lecturer. He taught Intermediate Microeconomics, Introduction to Econometrics, and Natural Resource Economics, among other courses through his many years of service.

Thanks to a combined effort from the Department’s Mentorship program, Women in Economics, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee, the Department of Economics was able to hold four career panels this year. These panels spanned many topics and were widely attended by undergraduate students. The virtual nature of these events allowed for even more participation from panelists, as they were not required to come to campus to present.

The Department of Economics is delighted to announce that economics major Sam Colgan has been named a recipient of the 2019-2020 President’s Medalist Award. Because of the current pandemic, University President Ana Mari Cauce was not able to hold a reception to celebrate Sam and his fellow honorees.
