New PhD program cohort ready to start

Submitted by Simon Reeve-Parker on

Representing ten countries across four continents, 19 new students are beginning their academic journeys toward their PhDs. They will dive straight into yearlong course sequences in micro- and macroeconomics, as well as econometrics. In addition, all incoming PhD students receive hands-on training in teaching economics, which will serve them well both as teaching assistants and in their future careers.

Most students complete their PhDs in five to six years, by which point they have completed two full years of coursework followed by a research dissertation in one of many specializations, including interdisciplinary options. Our graduates have gone on to widely varied careers in academia, governmental agencies, research institutions, and private industry.
