To the delight of Econ dawgs in the Big Apple, UW Economics alumni regional representative Greg Johnsen, BS '12, hosted an alumni happy hour at Husky-friendly Feile Bar in midtown Manhattan on November 18. Feile Bar has so much Husky pride, they even serve beer in Husky pint glasses! In addition to some networking and reminiscing about good times at UW, alumni enjoyed UW Economics trivia - with Econ-branded prizes! - about Department history and the many accomplishments of our faculty.

The primary goal of this meet-up was to determine interest for future NYC alumni gatherings, which could include guest speakers, professional development and networking opportunities, and establishing a stronger UW Econ community in the city. If you are interested in getting involved with the New York and tri-state area alumni group, contact Greg Johnsen.

We have an alumni get-together in the works in the Washington D.C. area for mid-February. Stay tuned for more details!

Regional alumni representatives support fellow alumni and current Economics students by acting as professional and social contacts for their city or region. Regional representatives might, for example, meet with a new graduate who is moving to that city to share insider tips, coordinate happy hour get-togethers for other alumni in the area, or provide information about the area and its industry to our students on the job market.

Want to get involved? Contact a regional representative in your area - or volunteer to start one! We want to hear from you - contact Robert Young, Economics Administrator, by email or at 206-543-3788.
