In spring of 2024, UW Economics welcomed Svenja Gudell, Ph.D., Chief Economist at Indeed to Savery Hall, giving UW Economics students a front-row seat to hear from Dr. Gudell. During this event, hosted by UW Women in Economics, Dr. Gudell shared information about the current labor market as well as labor market trends, both of great interest to our students who are making decisions to best position themselves for jobs and internships. Dr. Gudell also shared some key takeaways from her research regarding current demand for labor, remote and in-person work, wage growth, and the impact of AI on labor markets.
As Chief Economist at Indeed and leader of the Indeed Hiring Lab, Dr. Gudell was able to give students a view not only of labor market conditions and trends, but also a view into the research and analysis that she and her team do at Indeed. This sparked further interest among many students and provided engaging real-world examples. Thanks to Dr. Gudell for sharing her knowledge and expertise to enrich our students’ educational experience.
