Professor Thornton is a Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Washington and a member of the International Advisory Board for the Economics Education and Research Consortium in Russia of the Eurasia Foundation. Her research interest is the economics of the transition economies. She is currently working on strategies of Western businesses in Russia and determinants of tax effort in Russia’s regions.
